Individual Counseling and Therapy

You hold the key to change today…and tomorrow.

Each of us wants to do more than just exist. We want to create lives of meaning and purpose. We want committed relationships that bring us joy and fulfillment.  As we pursue our life goals and relationships we experience challenges from within and without. That is the human condition.

A healthy and humble response is to turn to others for help. An excellent person to support us in overcoming and even growing as we do the work is an experienced professional.

As a licensed psychotherapist, Rabbi Bloom has both the passion and the qualifications to serve you in that role. His belief in your gifts and your ability to fully bring them to light makes working with him both energizing and empowering.

Below are the primary clinical theories and modalities that he utilizes in therapy.

Solution Focused Therapy

Solutionfocused brief therapy is an approach to psychotherapy based on solution-building rather than problem-solving. It explores current resources and future hopes rather than present problems and past causes. With motivated clients this form of therapy often requires only three to five sessions.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy is a respectful, non-blaming approach to counselling which has the client as the expert in his/her own life. It views problems as separate from people and assumes that individuals themselves already have the beliefs, values, abilities and resources to minimize and even eliminate the influence of problems on their lives.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented psychotherapy that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. Its goal is to change patterns of thinking and behavior that are behind people’s difficulties, thereby changing how they experience life.  Rabbi Bloom has trained at the world renown Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and utilizes CBT extensively in his practice.

Developed by the eminent psychoanalyst Viktor Frankl, Logotherapy is founded on the belief that human nature is primarily motivated by the search for a life of meaning and purpose. A clear sense of why empowers us to deal with and grow from everything we experience. We may not be able to control of what happens to us, but we can always control how we respond.
